Academic Career

After beginning his medical studies at the University of Vienna (Austria) and in Florence (Italy), Dr. Fakin completed clinical residencies in Leicester (UK), New Orleans (USA), and Florence (Italy). In 2006, he obtained his Medical and Surgery degree from the University of Vienna.

He subsequently continued his training in general surgery and traumatology before joining the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University Hospital of Zurich (Switzerland) in 2010. In 2013, he was invited to collaborate with the Division of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS), and in 2015, he officially joined the Swiss Unit (SWI) as the first clinical physician in the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University Hospital of Zurich.

In 2015, he specialized in gender reassignment surgery under Dr. Preecha at the Preecha Aesthetic Center (PAI) of the King Chulalongkorn University Hospital in Bangkok (Thailand). Upon returning to Switzerland, he continued refining his techniques in gender reassignment procedures, and in 2018, he was appointed as an associate professor (PD) by the University of Zurich, consolidating his clinical and scientific career.
