Does the FFS change the face radically or are the changes subtle?

It depends on the number of procedures performed and the starting anatomy. In some cases, the changes are clearly visible even to people who are not familiar with the procedure. In others, the effect is more subtle: the face gains in harmony and femininity without it being easy to identify exactly what has changed. In any case, the aim of a good FFS is not to transform the face into an unrecognisable one, but to ensure that the outward appearance naturally reflects the identity of each person.

Can I have just a few procedures and add others later?

Yes, and this is a very common option. Many patients start with the procedures that they consider to be the highest priority or have the greatest impact on their particular case, and then consider later if they want to add any additional procedures. Planning in stages is completely valid and in some cases is the most advisable option. The important thing is that each phase is well planned with the surgeon so that the results are consistent with each other.

How long should I wait between one phase and the next if I do FFS in stages?

The usual interval between two phases of FFS is between three and six months, although this can vary depending on the procedures performed at each stage and how the recovery progresses. This time allows the tissues to fully heal and the result of the first phase to be stable before planning the next procedure.

Are the scars of FFS visible?

In most facial feminisation procedures, the incisions are planned so that the scars are in low visibility areas: inside the hairline, inside the mouth, in the natural folds of the skin or around the areola of the nose. With proper care and the passage of time, these scars usually blend in very naturally with the surrounding tissues.

Does the FFS have a permanent effect or does it need maintenance?

Procedures that act on the bone structure, such as forehead feminisation, jaw reduction or mentoplasty, have a permanent effect. Soft tissue procedures with resorbable materials, such as hyaluronic acid fillers, require regular maintenance. Procedures using your own fat (lipofilling) or implants have a much longer duration. The surgeon will explain the duration profile of each specific procedure at the consultation.
