Rhinoplasty is performed for both aesthetic and functional reasons, although in most cases both are combined. Nose surgery can range from a minor tip adjustment to a complete nasal reconstruction.
The anatomical structure of the nose, together with the delicate and subtle variations in the structure of the bones, cartilage and soft tissues , ensure that each case is unique and requires a personalised assessment. Rhinoplasty primarily addresses aesthetic defects of the nose whilst improving respiratory function and can be combined with other procedures such as septoplasty, blepharoplasty, mentoplasty, etc.
This procedure can be performed as a standalone procedure or in combination with various facial and body procedures. During pre-operative consultations, we assess aesthetic harmony, bone structure, gender and facial proportions to design a personalised surgical plan.
To achieve an optimal and natural-looking result, it is essential to analyse the shape and structure of the nose in relation to the face as a whole.

Types of rhinoplasty
What type of rhinoplasty is right for each patient?
The shape of the nose, the structure of the cartilage, the thickness of the skin and any existing functional issues are key factors in choosing the most appropriate rhinoplasty technique for each patient. We assess each case to determine whether an open or closed rhinoplasty is the most appropriate technique and whether it is necessary to correct functional structures such as the nasal septum or turbinates.
We also assess whether it will be necessary to use a cartilage graft taken from the patient’s own body (autograft) or an allograft.

Surgical Technique
How is rhinoplasty surgery performed?
Rhinoplasty is usually performed under general anaesthesia, supplemented with local anaesthetic to improve post-operative comfort and minimise swelling and bleeding.
The technique used will depend on the anatomical characteristics of each patient and the objectives of the procedure. Depending on the individual case, the procedure may be performed using either an open or closed rhinoplasty technique, allowing for the precise reshaping of the bone and cartilage structures of the nose, as well as the correction of functional abnormalities where necessary.
Following the procedure, a nasal splint is fitted to protect and stabilise the new structures. This splint is usually removed around 10 days after the operation.

Duration and complementary treatments
The results improve gradually over the first few months and are generally considered final once the recovery process is complete.
Rhinoplasty can be combined with other procedures, such as septoplasty, mentoplasty or blepharoplasty, to improve facial harmony and optimise both the aesthetic and functional outcomes.
