Breast augmentation using silicone implants is an effective and safe procedure which, for over half a century, has become one of the most commonly performed procedures in plastic surgery worldwide.

At our clinics in Madrid and Zurich, we use a wide range of brands (including Motiva, B-lite and Nagor), each of which offers specific properties and benefits, as well as meeting the highest quality standards.

This procedure can be combined with other procedures, such as a breast lift (mastopexy) or a fat transfer. To achieve the desired result, we carry out 3D simulations or use trial implants, which allows each patient to better visualise the potential outcome.

Which brand of breast implant is right for you?

Each patient’s personal preferences, as well as their anatomical dimensions, are key factors when choosing the most suitable brand of breast implant. All the brands we use are approved, adhere to the highest quality standards and come with a lifetime guarantee.

Motiva: State-of-the-art implants, available in an ergonomic design or other shapes, with a very natural feel.
B-lite: Extremely lightweight prostheses, weighing up to 30% less than other brands of the same size, which reduces pressure on the breast and can minimise post-operative pain.
Nagor: Anatomical or round implants, designed to maintain an optimal balance between projection and base.

Prosthetic shape options available at our clinics

Round: With a rounded shape, it ensures a balanced fit across the upper and lower chest.

Anatomical: It mimics the natural shape of the breast, with greater projection in the lower area.

Ergonomics: It is able to change shape depending on the patient’s position (becoming rounder when lying down and more anatomically shaped when sitting up), behaving in a similar way to a natural breast.

For each shape, various degrees of projection are available. When defining the final result of breast augmentation, factors such as silhouette, skin elasticity and breast shape are taken into account. Our priority is to understand the personal and individual desire of each woman, offering the utmost safety, peace of mind and a natural result.

Implant placement

There are three planes of positioning with respect to the pectoralis major muscle:

Subglandular: under the mammary gland.
Submuscular: under the pectoralis major muscle.
Dual: the upper pole is covered by muscle and the lower pole by gland.

Incision routes

Inframammary fold: scar in the lower groove of the breast.
Periareolar: border between areola and skin.
Transaxillary: through the armpit, keeping the breast free of visible scars.

How do we choose the size and type of implant in breast augmentation?

At Dr. Fakin's practice we assess your chest width, breast base, skin elasticity and personal preferences. Using testers or 3D simulation when necessary, we define the size, shape and projection of the implant that best suits your body.

Is the implant placed above or below the muscle?

Implants can be placed in a subglandular, subfascial or submuscular position. The decision depends on tissue coverage, physical activity, aesthetic goals and risk of capsular contracture.

What scars does breast augmentation leave and where are the incisions made?

The most common approaches are through the submammary fold, the areola or, in selected cases, the axilla. We aim for short incisions and meticulous closure to achieve discreet scars.

Can breast augmentation be combined with mastopexy if there is sagging?

Yes, when there is ptosis, we can combine augmentation with mastopexy to reposition the nipple-areola complex and achieve a firmer and better shaped breast. In our clinic we evaluate whether this procedure can be performed safely in a single intervention.

What is the recovery like after breast augmentation?

Light daily activities are possible within a few days. Sport can usually be resumed gradually after 4 to 6 weeks, while intense breast training is delayed a little longer. We always recommend a supportive post-operative bra and regular check-ups.
