Breast lipofilling, also known as breast fat grafting or breast lipotransfer, is a cosmetic surgery technique that uses the patient’s own fat to improve the volume and shape of the breasts.

During the procedure, fat is removed from areas where the patient has excess deposits, such as the abdomen, thighs or hips, using liposuction. This fat is then purified and processed to ensure the viability of the cells before being injected into the breast area.

One of the main advantages of the procedure is the use of autologous tissue, which reduces the risk of rejection or complications associated with synthetic implants. Furthermore, as the patient’s own fat is used and only small incisions are made, the result usually has a natural look and feel.

Procedure

How is breast lipotransfer performed?

Breast lipotransfer is generally performed in three main phases.

Fat removal

First, liposuction is performed in areas where there is excess fat, such as the abdomen, thighs or hips. The adipose tissue obtained is then used as grafting material.

Purification and preparation

The extracted fat is subjected to centrifugation and filtering processes, which allows the removal of impurities and the selection of viable fat cells for subsequent grafting.

Chest injection

Once prepared, the fat is injected into the breast using fine cannulas. The infiltration is performed in different layers and strategic areas to improve the shape of the breast and correct possible asymmetries, with minimal scarring.

As it is autologous tissue, the graft integrates naturally into the breast tissue.
