Dr. Richard Fakin is a renowned Swiss-Italian plastic surgeon, specialised in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, currently running his own clinics, founded in Madrid and Zurich.  In the course of his career, he has specialised in facial, breast, body and gender affirming surgery. Dr. Fakin merges advanced surgical techniques and cutting-edge aesthetic medicine procedures, always making use of the latest scientific developments and state-of-the-art technology.

Dr. Fakin graduated in medicine from the Medical University of Vienna, and completed his specialisation at the University Hospital of Bern and Zurich, Switzerland. He is a member of the SwissSpanish and International Plastic Surgery Society, has been a fellow of the European Board of Plastic Surgery (EBOPRAS) since 2013, and was appointed Associate Professor (PD) at the prestigious University of Zurich in 2018.

Dr. Fakin, is also a researcher, author of numerous scientific publications, contributor on different chapters for academic books and has participated in several clinical fellowships around the world. His clinical and scientific contributions, have granted him numerous invitations to congresses, live surgeries and international symposia.

Academic background

In the year 2000, Dr. Richard Fakin began his medicine studies at the University of Vienna (Austria) and in 2005 at the University of Florence (Italy). After completing his residency in Leicester (UK), New Orleans (USA) and Florence (Italy) he graduated in medicine and surgery from the University of Vienna in 2006.

Dr. Fakin started his career with general thoracic surgery and research, in 2010 became a member of the Plastic Surgery Division at the University Hospital of Zurich (Switzerland). In 2013, he was named fellow of the European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS) and, in 2014, of the Swiss Board of Plastic Surgeons (FMH). In this year, he was promoted to consultant surgeon at the division of Plastic and Hand Surgery at the University Hospital of Zurich.

In 2015, Dr. Fakin collaborated with Dr. Preecha at the Preecha Aesthetic Institute (PAI) and at the King Chulalongkorn University Hospital in Bangkok (Thailand), where he specialised in gender affirming surgery. Upon his return to Switzerland, he was promoted to director of the gender affirming surgery programme, and in 2018, became Associate Professor (PD) at the University of Zurich, due to the excellency of his clinical and scientific research.
