Bichat balls are small accumulations of fat in the cheeks that have no relevant function. Through a minor intervention, known as a bichectomy, it is possible to remove these deposits to refine and stylise the lower part of the face. Surgical Technique
The surgical technique begins with small incisions inside the mouth, so that scars are not visible. Between 5 and 9 grams of fat (the so-called “Bichat's balls”) are removed through these incisions and then closed with minimal sutures. The procedure usually takes less than an hour and, being minimally invasive, the recovery time is short.

Postoperative Care
- Oral hygiene: After the procedure, it is recommended to maintain good oral hygiene using rinses and mouthwashes to reduce the risk of infection.
- Inflammation and discomfort: Swelling can be reduced more quickly by applying local cold to the cheek area. The pain is usually mild and does not require more than basic painkillers if necessary.
- Results and follow-up: The final results can be seen after a few weeks, once the inflammation has completely subsided. A check-up is suggested to assess the progress and, if necessary, make minor adjustments.
This surgery can be combined with other facial rejuvenation techniques, such as blepharoplasty, hyaluronic acid fillers or lip lift, in order to achieve a more harmonious and balanced result. Before any additional intervention, a personalised study of the patient's anatomy is carried out to ensure optimal planning.
