A face and/or neck lift, or rhytidectomy, is one of the most effective procedures for rejuvenating the appearance of the face. In recent years, rhytidectomy techniques have evolved thanks to the incorporation of complementary procedures such as facial fat grafting and chemical peels, which deliver comprehensive, harmonious and natural results.

Under the medical supervision of Dr Richard Fakin, with clinics in Madrid and Zurich, facelift and/or neck lift procedures are performed, always with the aim of achieving a high level of patient satisfaction and aesthetic results. Types of facelift

What type of facelift is right for each patient?

The choice of facelift procedure depends on factors such as age, skin type and each individual’s unique anatomical features. At Dr Fakin’s clinics, these aspects are assessed to determine whether a minimal-scar open facelift, a mini facelift or a more extensive facelift is appropriate. Similarly, potential improvements to the eyelids and eyebrows are assessed, ensuring harmony and the optimal contour of the facial oval.

The procedure

How is facelift surgery performed?

The procedure begins with a small incision and the use of state-of-the-art technology to minimise swelling, bruising and postoperative pain. Initially, liposuction may be performed on the lower face and submandibular region.

Then, the plane underlying the SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System) is prepared to reposition the skin and facial muscles, to redefine the facial contour. After adjusting the skin, support techniques such as blepharoplasty, chemical peeling or fat grafting can be incorporated to achieve a more harmonious result.

How long do facelift and neck lift results last?

The results are usually maintained for 7 to 10 years, depending on factors such as lifestyle and aftercare. It is important to remember that the natural ageing process continues, so it is recommended to combine the facelift with a comprehensive aesthetic care plan to prolong and optimise its effects.

What do we achieve with a facelift and how does it differ from other treatments?

Where are the scars from a facelift?

Does a facelift change my expression?
