Over time, subcutaneous fat deposits can increase, and the skin of the arms may lose its elasticity, becoming more flaccid. This change not only affects physical appearance but also impacts the self-esteem of many individuals—often women—who may avoid showing their arms due to discomfort or insecurity. Arm lift surgery, also known as brachioplasty, removes excess skin and fat to restore a more youthful, firm, and attractive appearance to the arms.
Brachioplasty provides immediate results and a high level of patient satisfaction by significantly improving the arm’s silhouette and boosting confidence. When combined with healthy lifestyle habits, such as regular exercise and a balanced diet, the outcomes can be long-lasting, contributing to a more fulfilling and active life.

Arm lift surgical techniques
In most cases, an arm lift is performed by combining liposuction with the removal of excess skin. The surgeon assesses the shape of the arm and any surplus tissue to determine the most appropriate technique, whether a less extensive lift or one involving a larger incision. Additionally, reinforced internal sutures may be applied to enhance skin contraction and stimulate collagen production, improving the final result.

Where is the scar located after an arm lift procedure?
Our arm lift techniques leave minimal scars. For instance, the semi-circular incision in the unidimensional arm lift, is performed in the underarm crease:
- Uni-Dimensional Lift: The scar is placed along the inner side of the arm, extending from the armpit to a discreet point, making it as inconspicuous as possible.
- Bi-Dimensional or Semi-Circular Lift: In cases of more significant excess skin, the incision may extend around the armpit or part of the arm’s circumference, always with a strategic placement to minimize visibility.
To achieve less noticeable scarring, dermatological treatments and specialized suturing techniques may be employed.

Post-operative care and additional procedures
A temporary local paralysis of the sensory nerves is typically performed to reduce postoperative discomfort significantly. Sutures are removed according to established protocols, and in most cases, patients can resume light activities within a few weeks.
Following surgery, a compression garment tailored to the arm’s contour is recommended for about 4 to 6 weeks. This helps control swelling and supports proper healing. Additionally, patients are advised to avoid lifting heavy objects or engaging in intense exercise during the initial recovery period to minimize complications and ensure optimal results.
